The Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRi by its acronym in Catalan) is a private institution with public support. The FCRi's Board of Trustees includes private firms particularly involved in innovation and social dissemination of science. The FCRi also works closely together with the Government of Catalonia to pursue policies helping science dissemination in society.

The FCRi's main areas of action are: the social, scientific and productive spheres. In the social sphere, the FCRi carry out actions such as communication, dissemination and promotion of research and innovation, so that they may become characteristic features of our culture. In this sense, the FCRi develops a teacher training programme and support for schools, with the objective of improving the teaching of science in schools in practical terms and focused in the inquiry‐based methodology. In the field of science, they contribute towards adding value to all of the available research assets. Within the scope of productivity they encourage entrepreneurship and innovative vocations in the business world, whilst collaborating in the creation of an innovation ecosystem between public and private agents.
